Facial capillaries,
commonly called spider veins generally present no significant medical
problem, but can often detract from your appearance. They usually look
red at first and can have a bluish cast. Spider veins are more common
in individuals with thin, fair skin and are caused by weak walls of tiny,
superficial veins.
The
best method of treatment for spider veins is laser therapy. However for
a small number of facial capillaries, a procedure called sclerotherapy
- which is an injection of a chemical solution - may be an effective treatment.

WHAT
DO I WEAR WHEN I GO FOR MY TREATMENT?
Comfortable, loose fitting clothing is always a good choice.
HOW
LONG DOES A TYPICAL TREATMENT TAKE?
Sessions usually range from 15 to 30 minutes.
WHAT
DO I DO AFTER TREATMENTS?
Dr. Kwolek has different after-treatment instructions for each patient.
For laser therapy, you can resume normal activities. For sclerotherapy,
Dr. Kwolek advises no strenuous activities for a few days.
IS
THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
Mild discomfort may be experienced. Tylenol or Advil may be taken an hour
before the treatment.
WILL
THE TREATED VEIN RECUR?
Spider veins may seem to reappear but usually it is another vein that
is emerging. Veins will continue to grow as you age.
WHAT
IS THE COST OF A FACIAL CAPILLARY TREATMENT?
At the time of your consultation, Dr. Kwolek will determine the appropriate
procedure(s) to best treat your condition, and give you an estimate of
her fees.
